The Berry Patch Preschool and Long Day Care Centre
Our Pemulwuy preschool, long day care centre caters for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years old and is divided into five age groups. Baby Berries 1, Baby Berries 2, Raspberries, Blueberries & Strawberries. We are open from 7am-6pm catering for all meals, nappies, wipes and cow’s milk.
We have 3 separate outdoor areas, Baby Berries and Raspberries each have their own separate playground downstairs while Blueberries and Strawberries share a large space upstairs. The outdoor environments are very natural and earthy, with real plants, trees and gardens. They also exhibit different textures—soft fall, artificial grass, timber decking, pebble pathing and beautiful sandstone sandpits. Vibrant and spacious, they provide kids with lots of different areas to explore. Children are free to play outside all year round, thanks to the waterproof shade sails.
All outdoor areas have age-appropriate climbing structures and grass mounds as well as foot paths for children who want to ride their bikes. Other fixtures include slippery dips, obstacle courses, stepping stones, dry creek beds, wooden bridges, cubby houses, boat structures and timber deck stages. We also have a speaker system that plays music so youngsters can move and groove as they play. Contact us for more information.

Scribbles and Giggles Child Care Centre @ South Granville is family owned and operated service that provides long day care for children between the ages of 6 weeks to 6 years with operating hours of Monday to Friday 7.30am to 6.00pm.
Our journey began in 2007 when we opened our doors for the first time to families in the Rydalmere community. In 2014 we had the opportunity to grow the Scribbles and Giggles family to the Lidcombe community and opened our 2nd centre. The team at Scribbles and Giggles aim to provide a secure and happy environment where children can develop their intellectual, social, emotional, physical skills to become competent and confident individuals. So our parents/guardians, feel safe in the knowledge that their child is receiving the best possible care.
We encourage active involvement and meaningful experimentation in a secure setting that allows the children to be leaders of their own play. All our staff develop and maintain open communication with our families and incorporate them as a source of information and support. We encourage families to take an active role in their child’s learning and in the centre. Our parents are viewed as an asset and we encourage them to be involved in day to day operations, programs, and centre decisions. We encourage children to be navigators and active participants in their learning journeys and advocate their rights to contribute to decisions that affect them. This advocacy leads to children displaying autonomy and enabling them to build a strong sense of self.

Learning Links has a range of fun and educational small group programs for children aged 4-6 years during the January school holidays. Developed by our psychologists and speech pathologists, these programs are a great way to support your child’s learning for preschool and in the lead up to starting primary school.
Prep to Read is an interactive 3-day small group program for children starting kindergarten in 2020, to help them get ready for learning to read and write. Using engaging activities, children will learn important skills like sounding out letters and words to start to build phonemic awareness.
If your child has a creative flair and would enjoy the chance to create art to tell stories, our 2-day Paint and Tell program is a fantastic way to help them develop their language skills in a creative and exciting way. The program is suitable for children 4-6 years old, who would love to share art and stories in a supportive group environment.

PARENT INFORMATION
Types of child care services
Choosing the right service can be an exciting and sometimes overwhelming time for you and your child. It’s important to consider your options early and research the type of early education and care that suits your family best and will provide the best outcomes for your child.
There are many education and care options available to suit the needs of your child and your family:
+ Long Day Care
Long day care is perfect for those who work long days and need care for their children during business hours. It operates for at least 8 hours a day, typically Monday to Friday in a child care centre and caters for children, from birth to school age.
+ Family Day Care
Family day care is great for parents who want their children to learn and play in small groups, in a homelike environment. It caters for children, birth to 12 years and is held in the home of a registered educator.
+ Preschool Services
Preschool usually caters for children aged three to five years and is perfect for parents with children who are almost ready for primary school. Sometimes known as kindergarten, it can be a standalone service or part of another education and care service or school.
+ Outside School Hours Care
Outside school hours care operates before and after school and/or during school holidays. This service works well for parents with school age children, who need care outside of school hours.
These services are not regulated under the National Quality Framework (NQF):
+ Occasional Child Care
Occasional child care works on a casual basis for short periods of time. It caters for children, birth to school age and suits those who would like or need a temporary service.
+ Mobile Services
Mobile services travel through communities to offer occasional, preschool or long day care services in rural, urban and remote areas. It generally caters for children up to six years old, and is great for parents who live too far away from an early education and care service.
+ Other Child Care Options
There is a wide range of other child care options available, including family, friends, babysitters and nannies. These types of services are flexible and rely heavily on the family’s needs. They are generally run in a home and operating times may vary.
